We're officially regulars! This will be our second time ordering delivery, the food is fresh and delicious while the customer service is awesome. Barbara over the phone is great!

OK, I admit it: I had my doubts. Every since buying a home in South Florida, I've struggled to find decent "New York Style" American Chinese food, and the 4 or 5 different places I've tried before just didn't cut it. I've had South Seas bookmarked for a while, but was hesitant to give it a try, given its unassuming location in a grungy strip mall. But we took the dip one night and ordered a few things. To our surprise, it was very good. Chicken with Broccoli was fresh and didn't drown in sauce. General Tso's chicken was delicious in an excellent sauce. Roast Pork Lo Mein was a classic. Everything was packed well and boxed up quickly. I will certainly be back.

This place did not live upto the hype of the local buzz about it. I found the food extremely bland. I ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan, which didn't have much chicken. The pepper steak was almost like chewing beef jerky, and the lo Mein noodles had no taste what so ever. The food wasn't really bad (well maybe the pepper steak), just very bland. Not enough flavor for the money.

First, it's SOUTH SEA Chinese Kitchen. And it's very good. Try the Mongolian Beef. No Chairs. Take out only.

The food was great and the service was quick. I came in after I realized the Chinese restaurant near my house was closed. I ordered takeout and had my food in less than 10 minutes. I ordered the Chicken and Broccoli combination and it came with tons of food. You can't beat it for the price.

Often less than stellar reviews revolve around some negative experience with service or cleanliness or the like....those are the EASY critical reviews to write. Unfortunately, my review is not one of those. The staff was VERY friendly...place was presentable as chinese take out places go, but the food just didn't live up to my expectations. I generally judge a chinese take out on the quality of its egg rolls and Hot n Sour soup. Neither was very good. The egg rolls were rather small compared to what I get at the competition (for about the same price) and the soup was probably the worst Hot n Sour soup I've ever tasted....it had a strange almost chili like consistency....not at all like every other soup of this type I've had. I know many who swear by this place, but it failed my test and I will choose a different Chinese take out in the future.

I have been eating here for about 12 years now. I have sent many people to this restaurant and almost every one of them likes this place and returns often. I am always looking for a better place to eat and I'll ask them to compare their favorite Chinese place to South Seas. I usually win... err South Seas usually wins. I used to live in California, including San Francisco and was initiated into Chinese food by a real Chinese woman in the 1980's. Is this place better than many in San Francisco? Mostly no. But, it is much better than most of the Chinese restaurants around here and that's what we're comparing! My friend wouldn't eat here because they don't have ducks hanging in the window, which was a requirement of hers. BTW: That's usually a good sign if you're and see ducks hanging in a Chinese restaurant window, go in and try it. If you're looking to sit down and be waited on, this is not your place. If you're looking for good Chinese take-out or delivery in the Wilton Manors / Oakland Park area, you should give this place a chance. If you don't have a "great" experience, hopefully you'll try again before you write your comments because no one is perfect every day and your ideas of what food should be may not agree with others. South Seas gets 5 stars for food and consistency. There's not much in the way of ambiance or frills here, so don't let that turn you off.

We've been going to South Sea for almost 20 years now and have never been disappointed. They do make the best Szechuan Beef and fried rice. Their pork lo mein is also really good, but most of the times we order a large wonton soup and order a different entree.

This is a wholly decent Chinese take-out joint on Andrews at 29th in Wilton Manors -- no eat-in, just take-out or home delivery within a mile radius). The first time we ordered here, the food was fantastic in flavor, but just a tad idiosyncratic in their execution (e.g., Mongolian beef had the requisite beef and green and white onions, but with snow peas thrown in). Second and third times we ordered take-out, for some reason, everything was a bit lackluster in flavor and/or down-right strange. Still, though, it's a fine place if you're too lazy to cook and live in the area....

The first time I went the food was okay. There is something funky about their "chicken". The sesame sauce is also very thick and not enjoyable. The only good thing about them is their fried rice. However, when I eat Chinese I want more than fried rice. I will not be going back here.

I have tried several Chinese restaurants in the area. Many saying they were the best... These for price and quality do not compare at all to this great find. The food was fresh tasting and delicious. The "general" style chicken was not breaded and deep fried before being immersed in a tangy sweet noxiously fumed spice disaster of a sauce. Instead it was lightly fried and the sauce was clearly freshly prepared and not full of high crustose corn syrup. House special style fried rice was well made and delicious. I plan on sampling more of their menu- if you can't drive to silver pond, tropical Chinese, south garden Chinese or one of the other few delicious and slightly more expensive restaurants for an incredible sit down meal or dim sum- then this take out is by far the best in a five mile radius.

I've been coming here for more than 30-years and have enjoyed it the entire time. It's been under the same ownership the entire time, so that right there tells you something. My go-to is the General Tso's chicken - best in town! It's take-out only, so you'll be enjoying a great meal at home. if you're in the area do try it.

Delicious! I just got delivery from there and the food was wonderful! I liked the General Geo's and theres so much of it I will have lots to save for later. Everything else I got was good too. The person taking the order was very friendly and delivery was fast. I'll order from them again (and again).

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
